Meet Christina

Hello!  Thank you for visiting Personalized Home Wellness! I am Christina, a certified Health Coach and Personal Trainer. I specialize in home wellness services for the senior population. My goal is to help you improve and maintain your quality of life by providing preventive care services in the privacy of your own home. Have you or your family seen a slight change in your mobility? Were you recently released from physical therapy or newly diagnosed with a life changing health condition? These are just a few examples of life events that can change the way we live as well as where we live. Strength training, balance training, meal prep, holistic cooking, organization for safe mobility, cognitive training, health management, pet care and companionship are all services to help you manage each day, age in place and improve your quality of life. Whatever your personal needs and goals may be, I would love to be your health coach and part of your wellness team!

Preventive care practices have always been a part of my life.  However,  it wasn’t until I worked in long term care with the senior population that I truly became mindful of the aging and disease processes and what that looks like over time. Or better yet, what that could look like over time with a preventive care mindset and wellness plan. The way we age and health outcomes depend on two things, genetics and lifestyle.  Genetics contribute about 10-20% of our health outcomes, the rest is up to us! There are many contributing factors that speed up the aging and disease processes like sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy diet, stress, trauma, neurotoxins, deficiencies, chemical exposure, sleep disturbances, toxic environment, inflammation, overexposure to the sun (not taking proper sun exposure precautions) and dehydration to name a few.  However, it’s never too late to start practicing a preventive care lifestyle and embracing a wellness program with the goal to live a healthier life, an improved quality of life! Strength, balance and cognitive function can always improve with exercise and proper nutrition. Unfortunately, some health conditions are irreversible, but incorporating preventive care practices in your daily life may help ease the symptoms of the disease process and slow the progression. The lifestyle choices we make today directly affect our future self. Fortunately, no matter your current health condition, you can make small changes to help improve your quality of life.

I have an extensive professional background working with the senior population in various settings such as home health care, assistive living, memory care, independent living and skilled nursing. The various health conditions my clients have had include Parkinson's, ALS, diabetes, dementia/Alzheimer's, heart conditions, lung conditions, obesity, cognitive disabilities and depression. My clients' needs range from complete independence to total dependence requiring 24-hour care. I work well with families, care teams, physical therapists, assisted living communities and health care providers as it can, at times, require many people to adequately care for the senior population. With a wellness plan and care team established you can age in place, heal in place, embrace and maintain a healthy lifestyle, strive for independence and improve your quality of life.

In my free time I try to get outside as much as possible. I enjoy hiking, biking, snow shoeing and bird watching. My favorite indoor activities include playing chess, putting together Liberty Puzzles, baking and cooking.
